Ismail Darbar has also worked in numerous Hindi films and got his own Identity in Hindi Cinema. He was popular for his movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam released on theatre 1999. He has also received so many film awards, such as National Award for Best Music Director for movie 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' in 1999 and also won the so many movie awards. The movie features: Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Aishwarya Rai and music is composed by Ismail Darbar. In the movie, music scored is very well and for the movie, he also won the National film awards for Best Music Director and Filmfare RD Burman Awards for New Music Talent.
His next most commercial successful movie 'Devdas' relased in 2002. The movie was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also produced by Bharat Shah. The movie star-cast: Shahrukh Khan, madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher and Milind Gunaji. 'Devdas' movie music is composed by Ismail Darbar and his music was very well for the movie and also won the Screen Award for Best Music Director. After Devdas, Ismail Darbar did not work with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali due to personal matter.
