The Mammoth Hunters by Jean M. Auel
So, I used to be not too long ago uncovered to this collection, purchased all of the books from thrift books and have been glued to the story. I am unable to put it down. So many feelings from nice disappointment to excessive pleasure. It has been such a enjoyable story to learn and I’m as equally amazed at Ayla as everybody else within the books are. I simply completed the titled ebook final evening. However one half particularly has actually been bothering me lots. I do know this ebook is 37 years outdated however I am nonetheless going to mark it as a spoiler.
>!The problem in query is when they’re on the summer season assembly. When Ayla subdues Child and rides him in view of a lot of the Mamutoi. This was probably the most thrilling moments of this ebook, imho. I actually put the ebook down and clapped and jumped for pleasure in my lounge. My thoughts began to race and I used to be so excited to examine all of the potential reactions the remainder of the Mamutoi would have stated about her. How they’d both totally settle for her now or flip in opposition to her. How a lot they’d revere her and her energy over such animals. I used to be additionally wanting ahead to the calling of the mammoths ceremony. However as an alternative, after the chapter ended, they’re all on the mammoth hunt and there’s solely a few strains to trace what had occurred the day earlier than. I used to be very upset at this. It made me assume my ebook in some way lacking an entire chapter or two. I believed to myself, did the creator actually simply skip over all that potential story telling? !<
It strikes me as odd as a result of the creator to date had at all times been so detailed and descriptive in her storytelling. Nearly to the purpose that typically I get aggravated by how a lot element she goes into as a result of I wish to get to the following thrilling half. Does anybody else who has learn this really feel the identical means? Or am I simply being egocentric for wanting extra about this specific half? Additionally, have you ever skilled comparable points in different books that you’ve got learn?

I’m glad you like the books. I read them all back in the day. For me the quality of the writing declined as the series continued. The first two are my favorites.
I wish I could know what you are referring to, but the mods have their own agenda.
She does, in the early books, have a tendency to over-describe some scenes and under-describe others. I will be very interested in what you think of the series overall when you’ve finished. (I would say don’t even bother with the last book, but I didn’t take that advice when it was given me, and don’t expect anyone else to either.)
OP I’m glad you are enjoying the book. There’s nothing better than being taken away to a new world. I’d be upset about the author skipping an important part after you invested all the time to read it.
I absolutely loved the first book. During book 2, I grew weary of Ayla’s preternatural abilities. It became distracting.
It’s been a long time since I read that one, but I feel like that part of the story ends with Ayla knowing that this is the last time she’ll see Baby, and that was probably a good place to leave it; with a goodbye.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the books!
I don’t remember being frustrated with the story at that point. I think I got frustrated later and I will leave it at that so as not to spoil it for you. It’s a fantastic read and I remember thinking really well researched, but feeling like the author got tired because it really is a mammoth sized story she’s telling.
Love her rated R sex scenes 😇
I like the first two books in the series but the relationship angst makes The Mammoth Hunters unreadable. I set out to re-read the series a few years ago and stopped partway through The Mammoth Hunters because of it.
